Methodology
This preparatory study focuses on
distribution and power transformers and aims to recommend ways to improve the
environmental performance of these products. It will constitute the
first step in considering whether and which ecodesign requirements
should be set for these devices.
This study will include an analysis of
the relevant products (to be identified during the scope definition of
the study) over their whole life cycle from different perspectives:
market analysis, consumer behaviour, best available technologies, and
improvement potential in terms of improving energy efficiency and
reducing environmental impacts.
This study will follow a methodology common to all the EuP preparatory studies: Methodology for Eco-design of Energy-using Products (MEEuP). An overview of the 7 task structure of the study is presented in the following figure.

The project execution includes a wide consultation and cooperation with industry federations and representatives as well as other interested stakeholders.
The close cooperation with all relevant stakeholders is the basis to
having access to relevant data and technological developments as well
as having a thorough feedback on project findings in an early stage.
An efficient exchange of such
information is ensured through this website and stakeholders meetings
organised during the course of the study.
For further details on the methodology, see the MEEuP final report.
